The legendary temple of Lord Vishweshwara is located in Karnataka which is known as Yelluru Shri Vishweshwara temple. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is also acknowledged as Vishweshwara. Vishweshwara Vrat Significance
According to ancient stories, Once Kunda Raja who was Shudra king of the Kuthyar Dynasty invited Bhargava Muni to his kingdom. Bhargava Muni refused his request as the existence of temples and rivers are very less in his kingdom. A rejection of his invitation made the king disappointed and he went to the banks of the river Ganga to perform holy Yagya to invoke Lord Shiva. Kunda Raja impressed Lord Shiva and asked to live in his Kingdom. Lord Shiva agreed on his wish and started living in this Kingdom.
In the kingdom of Kunda Raja, once Lord Shiva saw a tribal woman searching for her lost son in the dark forest. She cut a fleshy tuber which started bleeding, At that moment she started crying loudly by calling her Son’s Name ‘Yellu In this way she assumed as she mistook her son for tuber. After seeing this lord Shiva appeared at that place in the form of Linga to help the women. In this way, the temple is created at this place and got its name as Yelluru Vishweswara Temple.
What to do on Vishweshwara Vrat
Devotees should wake up early in the morning and take a bath. Devotees should observe the fast on this day to seek divine blessings from Lord Shiva. Offering fruits, milk, and sweets to Shiv lingam on this day is considered to be very auspicious. Devotees should break their fast on the next day morning by eating fresh food. Visit the temple to offer a prayer to Lord shiva to gain his significant blessings on this day.
